Canada Post Rally

I attended the Canada Post rally earlier this afternoon.  There was a good turnout, and as always, a great sense of community in Olde Sandwich Towne.

The fight to save Canada Post will continue.  You can contact Canada Post directly at www.canadapost.ca/retail and email Minister Steven Fletcher at steven.fletcher@parl.gc.on.ca.

West End Crawlers Newsletter

The West End Crawlers have issued out their first newsletter of which I will share with you all below:

It's been a busy month for us Crawlers!  Since launching on January 1st, we've:

**Received our first clothing donation, from Ruby Brown, and are in the process of finding good homes for them!  "THANK YOU!"

**We met with Sara & Drew Chapados from Westside Church of Christ. They gave us much needed insight and a wealth of information as to where to direct cash, clothing and other articles throughout the West End.  "THANK YOU!"

**Our ¢hange for Change$" campaign was implemented on January 19th at our "Happy New Year Get Together at Hurricanes.  This is to help raise funds for things like school breakfast programs, and other areas of need in the West End.  "THANK YOU!" to all the establishments who welcomed our growler jugs! They were generously donated by The Krooked Kilt!  "THANK YOU!"

Coming up in February, we're announcing "Loonie Crawls".  These will take place in months we don't have "major" crawls scheduled.

A PEEK INTO MARCH:  Our "St. Patty's Eve Crawl" on Sat. March 16th

There's no telling how well we'll do, or how much we'll raise, but together we can make this project a success and make a REAL DIFFERENCE in the West End!

Canada Post to Shutter Sandwich Post Office

There has been some unfortunate news as of late.  Canada Post is looking to shut its doors in Sandwich Town.  Here is the article in the Windsor Star: Canada Post to Shutter Sandwich Post Office.

I was asked to help fight the closure.  Once I hear more, I will keep everyone informed.

The hours of operation of the Post Office in Sandwich Town is Monday - Friday, 8am to 5pm.  The location is 3201 Sandwich St.

Pennies for Parkinsons

I received a request from a west-ender to post his fundraiser below:

"Hello everyone. Are you wondering what to do those unwanted pennies. I’ve got the solution for you. Would you consider donating them to the Parkinson Society? Every year I hold different events for the society. Weve done dress down days at some of the high schools, pennies for Parkinsons at the grade schools, BBQ`s,  pasta dinners etc. This year I want to try something new, approach the west enders at large. In September  we have the Parkinsons Super walk at Mic Mac park. We have a team called Renauds Raiders, for the last four years weve raised approx. 17 thousand dollars. I would like to hit 21 thousand this year. Remember all funds go to the Parkinsons Society.
This event is near and dear to me as I was diagnosed 4 years ago with this neurological disease. As of now there  is no cure for the disease, however most symptoms are controlled with medications.  The medical people are getting closer and closer to a cure. This is why fundraising is crucial now. Some of you may relate this disease to Michael J. Fox, Bill Clinton, Mohammed Ali, and the Pope. All of them have the same disease.
Fabio can you please post this in Our West Side. Donations can be picked up at any time. My email address isjrenaud13@cogeco.ca.

The penny is being eliminated in March I believe, here is the perfect opportunity to donate and feel good doing so.
Thanks in advance, Joe Renaud, a proud west ender for lifeĆ©."

Two break-ins occurred on two separate dates but both were on McKay street.  The first was on the 400 block and the second which happened relatively recently was on the 1200 block.  If you see any suspicious activity, please contact Windsor Police.
