Car Break-Ins

There has been some unfortunate news as of late regarding car break-ins.  One occurred last night on the 1100 block of Josephine and another on Merritt Drive, in addition to two others which occurred this past week on the 1000 block of California Ave.  Neighbours are suspecting that it's youth in the area but there is no hard evidence to absolutely prove this.

Please be on the lookout and please also notify police if you suspect anything.

    My daughters vehicle in the 1200 block of Askin has been broke into 3 times in the last 2 months - Lets get some policing in this area. Only a matter of time before they make the jump to break and entering homes.

    Just wanted to let you know, this past weekend I had my car broken into in the 1100 block of California. Lost some change, a giftcard and a bluetooth visor.

    I've been at this residence for a little over a year. My vehicle has been rifled threw 3 times to date. As soon as a month after I move in and twice in the past 2 month with the latest being a few weeks ago. My house is behind the boxing club. There is usually a nightly occurance in the park. Last night a police vehicle had drove onto the basketball court because of a bunch of boys and their disturbance. I did also see the neighbourhood watch. Thanks guys for your hard work!

October 4th Council Meeting

Hi friends,  I wanted to provide a brief synopsis of today's Council meeting as there are some items of interest to residents in the west-end.  First, I am happy to report that Council unanimously supported my committee motion not to remove the streetlights at Brock and Sandwich and at Campbell and Grove. There was an administrative report recommending the removal of streetlights at these intersections, among others, and Council supported my motion to keep them there considering there are two grade schools close by at each location.  Second, we were supposed to discuss and debate the Legacy Beacon project and the Festival Plaza Canopy project today. Councillor Gignac put forward a motion to defer these items until administration reported back on a comprehensive report looking at these two projects together with the Civic Esplanade project that is set to come forward at some point in the future.
